For the transformer industry, Soenen also builds slitting lines. A Soenen slitting line processes 200 m silicon steel per minute with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. Our lines can slit coils that vary between 300 and 1250 mm. The strips are recoiled with high accuracy and the right tension.

Expanded metal press
A Soenen expanded metal press shares many characteristics with our perforation presses. The speed of the small, high-speed presses can reach up to 1,200 SPM, and we can expand steel sheets that are between 0.3 and 8 mm thick. Just like the perforation presses, accuracy is one of the most important factors when it comes to producing a perfect sheet of expanded metal, the feeding accuracy of the Soenen press is 0.02 mm. Depending on the client’s wishes, our expanded metal presses can be equipped with the following: an adjustable apron, an adjustable table, variable stroke, additional gripper feeder to minimize scrap when processing a series of sheets, an automatic sheet loader, and much more.

M-Boss embossing press
Soenen designed and built the “M-Boss”, an embossing press for stainless steel sheets with a width of 500 – 1,500 mm and a length of 1,000 – 6,500 mm. One of the criteria that Soenen had to keep in mind was that the M-Boss had to be much more flexible than any comparable product on the market. This embossing press is CAD-driven, operating 60 punches that can be controlled automatically and independently, making it a truly unique and exceptional machine. The press allows the client to produce any pattern or logo imaginable, and it can emboss regular and irregular stainless steel sheets of any shape. Embossing is a rather slow process for most of today’s presses. But thanks to the M-Boss, which has a press force of 2,500 kN, we’ve been greatly speeding things up. The result is a press that can emboss a sheet using 60 stamps simultaneously – a 300% increase in yield. A flat steel sheet with perfectly shaped dots guaranteed!

In order to make the manufacturing of a transformer E-core more efficient, faster and accurate, we developed the in-line and off-line E-stacking systems. The first one is a high precision placing unit, positioned behind a new or existing core cutting line, while the latter is a compact, stand-alone pick and place unit. Sheets are picked from irregular stacks and accurately placed in an E-shape.
